School Holidays Programme at Kapiti Stables

Kapiti Stables has a holistic approach towards our horses. We want the children to learn not only to ride, but also to care for a horse, handling a horse, basic groundwork skills, feeding and so forth. We offer this through horse riding lessons, therapy, but also school holiday programmes.

We offer a variety of programmes; half days for the young ones, full days for everyone and a two day course for everyone who want to have a hard out horse experience with a horse.

Half day program: 11 and 18 July
Between 10 am and 1 pm for children between 4 and 8 years old who would like to learn to brush horses, go trough an obstacle course and go for a ride in our paddock.
Costs: $50

Full day program: 9, 10, 12 and 19 July
Between 10 am and 3 pm for children between 8 and 16 years old. We will start with grooming your horse, basic ground skills and go through an obstacle course. Then we’ll do a horse quiz and we finish our day with a ride outside our paddocks, through Queen Elizabeth Park.
Costs: $80

Two day course; 16 and 17 July (minimum age required is 11 years old)
Two full days (10 am and 3 pm) where we take everything to the next level; you will choose a horse you like to work with for the full two days, you’ll take care of that horse; feeding, exercising, grooming, and so forth. These days include lots of horse games, quizzes, riding, learning about herd behaviour, obstacle courses and you can ride your horse bareback as well!
Costs: $175

ABOUT US...

Kapiti Stables provides grazing spaces for private owners, and trekking experiences through Queen Elizabeth Park, Whareroa Farm and along the beach between Paekakariki and Raumati South. We make riding accessible for the beginner rider, of any age, and for those who have had a little more experience. As our horses are used in equine therapy (activities with horses to promote human physical and mental health), rest assured that even the most nervous riders will be able to get stuck right in!

Kapiti Stables provides for those who are differently abled to experience horses, receive riding instruction and gain work experience opportunities. In our stable onsite, we have an art gallery to showcase and sell their awesome artworks! We also support adults and  youth in the community with our specialized equine leadership training and therapies to help develop confidence and leadership skills.

We also offer:

  • Corporate Leadership and Management Development
  • Birthday parties
  • School Holiday programmes
  • Equine Assisted Therapy and Counselling
  • Pony experiences

Thank you so much for letting my daughter Isabella groom Mitzy a few weeks back, it was so kind of you to involve her and us when we stumbled across your stables. You were all so friendly and welcoming! We will definitely come and say hi in the future. Thanks again. Heidi, Carl and Isabella 😊
